My husband makes his own soup -- a couple recipes that we eat weekly. Really, there's nothing better than homemade, right?

Roasted butternut soup is my go-to whether I'm feeling a bit ick or because it's cold outside. It's a rather laborious process doing it all from scratch, but it's worth it. (And it freezes well.) Most butternut soups are full of cream and other things I can't eat, so making my own is the best. I also like pea soup (with mutton neck on the bone for extra flavour, not ham or other processed meats) and bean soup (these recipes are from a friend and they also freeze well).
